Imagine this…

Growing up in foster or kinship care can come with a heavy emotional load; the loss of home, family, and familiarity often overshadows the everyday joys that other children take for granted. Music lessons, school camps, art supplies, sports gear, these are the things that light kids up, that give them identity, confidence, and connection.

But for many children in care, these extras are out of reach.

That’s where our Others Do Care Fund steps in.

This special, discretionary fund helps cover the cost of meaningful opportunities that nurture a child’s growth, creativity, and wellbeing, the things that remind them they are more than their trauma, more than their file, more than their past.

What the Fund Supports

The Others Do Care Fund helps children in care access activities and items that enrich their lives and support their development, including:

We’ve seen this fund buy a violin for a budding musician, a surfboard for a teen who found peace in the ocean, and tutoring for a young girl who just needed someone to believe in her.

Each request is personal, practical, and centred on helping a child feel included, empowered, and seen.

Our Mission

We Need Your Help

Your donation of any amount helps us to support children in out of home care to access opportunities that encourage them to grow their confidence, learn new skills and participate in their community. Best of all, your donation shows children who have often experienced neglect and abuse that others do care about them.

For around $200 we can support a child’s passion.

Who Can Apply?

Requests for the Others Do Care Fund must come from carers or case workers who know the child and their unique circumstances. This helps us ensure the funds are used meaningfully and for genuine needs.

The program is available to children in care across Victoria, and while funding is limited, we assess every application with care and heart.

Each year, we support around 12 children through this fund, a small number, but with an enormous ripple effect.
