Our Commitment to Child Safety

At A Better Life For Foster Kids, the safety and wellbeing of children and young people is our highest priority. We are committed to upholding the strongest standards of child safety through clear policies, training, and a culture of listening, respect, and care. Below are the key documents that guide how we create safe, supportive environments for all children involved in our services.

Child Safe Policy and Statement of Commitment

This policy outlines our organisation’s unwavering commitment to child safety and wellbeing, and explains how we create a protective and empowering environment for every child in our care.

Child Safety & Wellbeing Code of Conduct

Our Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour we expect from staff, volunteers, and partners to ensure all interactions with children are safe, respectful, and supportive at all times.

Complaints & Procedure Policies

This policy provides a clear and accessible process for raising concerns or complaints, and outlines how we respond with fairness, transparency, and a child-centred approach.

ABLFFK Training Action Plan

Our Training Action Plan outlines how we equip all staff and volunteers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to identify and respond to child safety risks and uphold our responsibilities.

Learn More About Victoria’s Child Safe Standards

Victoria’s Child Safe Standards are designed to protect children from harm and ensure organisations like ours are creating safe, inclusive, and responsive environments. These 11 standards outline what organisations must do to prevent abuse, listen to children, and respond effectively to concerns. They also place a strong focus on equity, recognising the needs of children with a disability, Aboriginal children, and children from culturally diverse backgrounds.

At A Better Life For Foster Kids, we proudly align our policies and practices with these standards, and we encourage carers, volunteers, and community members to understand their importance. For a full explanation of the Child Safe Standards, including practical tools and responsibilities for organisations, please visit the Commission for Children and Young People’s website.
